WHAT

  1. BEER, BEER , BEER: Oh what delicious brews to have! Featuring Sierra Nevada’s fourth Oktoberfest collaboration festival beer. This year we partnered with Bavaria’s Weihenstephan, the world’s oldest brewery, for this American take on the classic German Oktoberfest. A malt backbone is balanced by subtle hop character in this crisp, clean, and drinkable crowd-pleaser—nothing captures the spirit of celebration like a beer among friends.
  2. FOOD: Keeping with tradition, a contemporary German feast will be provided by the Sierra Nevada Taproom. The feast will be available from 5-8pm, and is included with your ticket price. Full menu coming soon! Soft pretzels and cupcakes available until 10pm in exchange for a beer/pretzel ticket.
  3. MUSIC: A Fantastic Line-Up Featuring March Fourth
    • March Fourth returns to Chico Oktoberfest! The theatrical circus troupe of live musicians, singers, dancers, and circus artists will close out the evening. MarchFourth is an internationally-acclaimed, genre-breaking FORCE in the world of entertainment — a sonic explosion delivered by 20 musicians, dancers and artisans who travel the world, year-round, taking audience members of all ages, from all walks of life, on a joy-inducing, foot-stomping, booty-shaking, soul-stirring journey that defies categorization.
With exceptional musical quality and a visual kaleidoscope of stilt walkers, hoopers and Vaudeville-style dancers, MarchFourth whips audiences into a celebratory frenzy with an over-the-top spectacle of high-energy compositions, colorful costumes and irresistible charisma!
This is not a band that simply “puts on a show.” MarchFourth delivers a multi-faceted, indelible experience of pure joy.
    • Bayern Maiden – An authentic Oktoberfest Band playing and singing a mix of classic German pop, rock, folk, disco and American classic tunes the way it’s played in the tents in Munich, Germany. We’re excited to have them playing at all four events as well.
    • The Philip der Stein Sextet – Named after the patron saint of polkas, Philip der Stein, this ensemble is a raucous six-pack of sousaphone, accordion, trombone, trumpet, saxophone and drums, along with lots of fancy singin’. These boys have a wide-ranging repertoire from old favorites like “Trink Trink” to “Pork Pie Hat” by way of “White Wedding.” Philip Der Stein will have you chicken dancin’ in a mosh pit with Joe Strummer’s ghost before you can say “Prost!”
  4. LIVE GLASS BLOWING DEMONSTRATIONS: Once again, our friends at Red Hot Metal have partnered with the Museum of Glass to provide a glass blowing studio for live demonstrations by local artists. Enjoy glass blowers creating works of art while you watch! Selected items will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the local nonprofit, 1078 Gallery, as well as fashion performance artist collective, Chikoko.

One beer ticket comes with admission; how do I get more?
The answer is twofold…

  1. Online: Pre-purchased beer or pretzel tickets will be in allotments of five tickets and can be redeemed at dedicated express lines in the beer tickets area. The pre-purchased beer tickets line will move significantly faster; we highly recommend this option.
  2. Onsite: Additional beer or pretzel tickets will be on sale for $4/beer at the event in whatever quantity suites you best.

What is the deal with the designated driver tickets?
The designated driver ticket costs $35 and comes with all the perks of the regular ticket, except that no alcohol will be served to you. You will still get a stein, contemporary German meal, one pretzel ticket, non-alcoholic beverages, and access to our complimentary shuttle service. Your wristband will identify you as a non-drinker. Will there be a chicken dance contest again?
Absolutely, time to start practicing! Don’t be a turkey, learn how to chicken dance! Or, if you’re more of a visual learner, here is an awkward instructional video.

What should I wear?
Traditional dress is encouraged, but not required. Lederhosen and dirndls are highly recommended! You don’t need to get fancy, just have fun with it!

What’s this I hear about a moustache contest?
Directly following the Chicken Dance contest will be a moustache-off. No, you don’t have to take your moustache off, just come up toward the stage and show it off! The winners will take home two tickets to the 2018 Oktoberfest!
