Western North Carolina is known for its love of food and passion for great craft beer. At our Mills River Taproom and Restaurant you’ll find an abundance of both. Visit the Taproom to sample one of our 23 beers on tap, many produced just a few feet from the restaurant. Beers are accompanied by artful, chef-driven food focused on small plate, sharable, whole animal and farm-to-table dishes sourced mainly from local suppliers. We are a first come, first serve restaurant. Please feel free to stop by the host stand to put your name on the list, or grab a beer and head outside to our Back Porch and Beer Garden to take in the views of the beautiful forest or stroll through our Mills River Estate Garden. We use the homegrown vegetables and herbs for our restaurant and small-scale pilot brewery.

Audition Double IPA

Our Audition series is a place for us to try new recipes and experiment with new beers; for this version we worked with a lucky group of our employees who demanded massive tropical hop aromatics. To satiate their cravings, we loaded this double IPA up with a blend of Strata, Mosaic, and Experimental hop #472 for intense aromas of passion fruit, papaya, and mango. A hefty addition of our steam-distilled hop oil during fermentation adds complexity to the aroma of this fruit-forward IPA, balanced by a firm bitterness and lip-smacking hop flavor.

Hazy Little Thing

We’re constantly brewing new IPAs, looking for bold hop flavor. With this beer, our brewers thought it was so good that we decided to serve it straight from the tanks—unfiltered, unprocessed, and raw—to let all the fruit-forward hop flavors shine. The result is a hazy beer with modest bitterness and intense hop character.

Hop Bullet Double IPA

Hop Bullet Double IPA features a new technique: we’re hitting the beer with a double-barreled blast of Magnum hops and lupulin dust—the source of hop flavor and aroma—right into the fermenter for a ballistic burst of aggressive hop character.

Sierraveza

Inspired by the classic cervezas served ice-cold by the beach, we created our own take on the easy-drinking lager. Light and crisp, this beer has a balanced malt flavor with a hint of floral hops for an incredibly drinkable beer that will have you calling for another round.

Southern Gothic Session Pils

Steeped in tradition, yet, ready for anything. That pretty much sums up our Southern Gothic Session Pils. This hop-forward, but light-bodied pilsner is crisp and drinkable—perfect for an afternoon on the porch or a night down at the pub. We left it unfiltered and raw to bring out its com-plexity and to fit right in to nearly any situation.

Black IPA

Come to the dark side and give our Black IPA a try. Brewed with Amarillo, Chinook, and Centennial hops, it has all the classic hop flavors you’ve come to expect in our IPAs. Piney, citrus-forward hop aromas and a hint of roasted malt flavor combine in perfect harmony for this all-American beer mashup.
